"Sanctify"

Sanctify{G37} them through Thy Truth: Thy Word is Truth.
John 17:17

Strongs: G37

37 ἁγιάζω [A(GIA/ZW] {hagiázō} \hag-ee-ad'-zo\ from 40;

{G37} the gold?

Matthew 23:19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth
{G37} the gift?

Luke 11:2 And He said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be
{G37} Thy Name Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in Heaven, so in earth.

John 10:36 Say ye of Him, Whom the Father hath sanctified
{G37}, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

{G37} them through Thy Truth: Thy Word is Truth.

{G37} Myself, that they also might be sanctified{G37} through the Truth.

{G37} are sanctified.

Acts 26:16-18 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to Light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified
{G37}by Faith that is in Me.

Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified

I Corinthians 1:1-3 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified
{G37} in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

I Corinthians 6:11And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified
{G37}, but ye are justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

{G37}by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified{G37} by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of Water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

I Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify
{G37} you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I Timothy 4:4,5 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified
{G37} by the Word of God and prayer.

II Timothy 2:20,21 But in a great House there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. if a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified
{G37}, and meet for the Master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Hebrews 2:10-12 For it became Him, for Whom are all things, and by Whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the Captain of their Salvation perfect through sufferings. For both He that sanctifieth
{G37} and they who are sanctified{G37} are all of One: for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, I will declare Thy Name unto My brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto Thee.

Hebrews 9:13,14 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth
{G37} to the purifying of the flesh: how much more shall the blood of Christ, Who through the Eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the Living God?

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified
{G37} through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Hebrews 10:28,29 He that despised Moses' Law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the Covenant, wherewith he was sanctified
{G37}, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

I Peter 3:15,16 But sanctify
{G37} the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the Hope that is in you with meekness and fear: having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

Revelation 22:11,12 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy
{G37} still. And, behold, I come quickly; and My Reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Here is some context--

John 17:17-26
Sanctify{G37} them through Thy Truth: Thy Word is Truth. As Thou hast sent Me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I Sanctify{G37} Myself, that they also might be sanctified{G37} through the Truth.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their Word; that they all may be One; as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be One in Us: that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me. And the Glory which Thou gavest Me I have given them; that they may be One, even as We are One: I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in One; and that the world may know that Thou hast sent Me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved Me.

Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am; that they may behold My Glory, which Thou hast given Me: for Thou lovedst Me before the foundation of the world. O Righteous Father, the world hath not known Thee: but I have known Thee, and these have known that Thou hast sent Me. And I have declared unto them Thy Name, and will declare it: that the Love wherewith Thou hast loved Me may be in them, and I in them.

Evening devotional

Hear this evening's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

10.24 Evening:

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them.

There be many that say, Who will shew us any good?―What hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun? for all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night.―All is vanity and vexation of spirit.―They have forsaken Me the Fountain of Living Waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.―I will pour Water upon him that is thirsty.―Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after Righteousness: for they shall be filled.

O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee: my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no Water is.

Isa 41:17 Ps 4:6 Ec 2:22,23,17 Jer 2:13 Joh 6:37 Isa 44:3 Mt 5:6 Ps 63:1

(Psalm 4:6)There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift Thou up the Light of Thy Countenance upon us.--(Ecclesiastes 2:22,23)For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun? For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.--(Ecclesiastes 2:17)Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.--(Jeremiah 2:13)For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the Fountain of Living Waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no Water.

The LORD is gracious

For all flesh is as grass,
and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
but the Word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the Word which by the Gospel is preached unto you.
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes,
desire the sincere milk of the Word,
that ye may grow thereby:
if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
(I Peter 1:24-2:3)

The Word for the YEAR--
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Word for the month--
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the Strength of my Life; of whom shall I be afraid?

The Word for the day--
Psalm 56:3,4 What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. In God I will praise His Word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

Compare Spiritual with Spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:12-14; John 5:39)--

"What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. In God I will praise His Word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me."

Hebrews 13:5-8 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my Helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the Word of God: whose Faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Jesus Christ the Same ["Himself" Heb 2:18;5:2;12:3] yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

I Peter 1:24-2:3For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: but the Word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the Word which by the gospel is preached unto you. Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Again, the Word for the day--Psalm 56:3,4 What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. In God I will praise His Word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

Hear this morning's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

10.24 Morning:

I am cast out of Thy sight; yet I will look again toward Thy Holy Temple.

Zion said, The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

I forgat prosperity. And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord.―Awake, why sleepest Thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.―Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?―In a little wrath I hid My Face from thee for a moment; but with Everlasting Kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the health of my countenance, and my God.―We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.

Jon 2:4 Isa 49:14,15 La 3:17,18 Ps 44:23 Isa 40:27 54:8 Ps 43:5 2Co 4:8,9
