Psalm 45

To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves.

My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the King: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into Thy lips: therefore God hath blessed Thee for ever. Gird Thy Sword upon Thy thigh, O most Mighty, with Thy glory and Thy majesty. And in Thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and Thy right hand shall teach Thee terrible things. Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies; whereby the people fall under Thee.

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of Thy Kingdom is a right sceptre. Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows. All Thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made Thee glad. Kings' daughters were among Thy honourable women: upon Thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house; so shall the King greatly desire thy beauty: for He is thy Lord; and worship thou Him.
And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat Thy favour. The King's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the King in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto Thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the King's palace. Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. I will make Thy Name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise Thee for ever and ever.

"The Mystery of Godliness"--"win Christ"

But godliness with contentment is great gain (1Timothy 6:6).

"But godliness"

1Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the Mystery of Godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

"with contentment"

Philippians 4:11-13 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

"is great gain"

Philippians 3:7-11 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for Whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the Law, but that which is through the Faith of Christ, the Righteousness which is of God by Faith: That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death; if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

But godliness with contentment is great gain (1Timothy 6:6).

"This is my Beloved"

My Beloved is white and ruddy, the Chiefest among ten thousand.

His head is as the most fine gold, His locks are bushy, and black as a raven.

His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set.

His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: His lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh.

His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: His belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires.

His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: His countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.

His mouth is most sweet: yea, He is altogether lovely. This is my Beloved, and this is my Friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

Psalm 93

The Lord reigneth, He is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith He hath girded Himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy Throne is established of old: Thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on High is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. Thy Testimonies are very sure: Holiness becometh Thine House, O LORD, for ever.

Compare--

"O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea."

Psalm 18:4
The sorrows of death compassed Me, and the floods of ungodly men made Me afraid.

Psalm 124:1-5
If it had not been the LORD Who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the LORD Who was on our side, when men rose up against us: then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

Jude 8-12
Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Yet Michael the Archangel, when contending with the devil He disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Song 8:6,7
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for Love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench Love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for Love, it would utterly be contemned.

Psalm 99

The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: He sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

The LORD is great in Zion; and He is high above all the people. Let them praise Thy great and terrible Name; for it is holy. The King's strength also loveth judgment; Thou dost establish equity, Thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob. Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at His footstool; for He is holy. Moses and Aaron among His priests, and Samuel among them that call upon His Name; they called upon the LORD, and He answered them. He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept
His testimonies, and the ordinance that He gave them. Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: Thou wast a God that forgavest them, though Thou tookest vengeance of their inventions. Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.

Compare--

"The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: He sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved." (Psalm 99:1)

Exodus 25:20
And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.

"Hide me"

Job 14:13 O that Thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that Thou wouldest keep me Secret, until Thy wrath be past, that Thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

Psalm 17:8.9 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of Thy wings, from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the Secret of His Tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a Rock.

Psalm 64:2-4 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: that they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at Him, and fear not.

Psalm 143:9 Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto Thee to hide me.

Colossians 3:1-3 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your Life is hid with Christ in God.

The Voice of the Lord

1Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the Voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

When the Lord descends from Heaven and His saints are caught up together--will He be utterly SILENT while an archangel shouts and a trump sounds? Or is the Lord telling us that the SHOUT is His Voice-- that His Voice is the Trump of God--the Voice of the Archangel?

Compare these Scriptures (I Corinthians 2:13,14)--

"the trump of God"

Exodus 19:16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the Voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

Hebrews 12:18,19 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet, and the Voice of Words; which Voice they that heard intreated that the Word should not be spoken to them any more:

Revelation 1:10-12 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a Great Voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. And I turned to see the Voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first Voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

"the Voice of the archangel"

Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Zechariah 3:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the Great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Acts 3:14,15 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; and killed the Prince of Life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

Acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Revelation1:5,6 And from Jesus Christ, Who is the Faithful Witness, and the First Begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

So
when the Lord descends from Heaven and His saints are caught up together--will He be utterly SILENT while an archangel shouts and a trump sounds? Or is the Lord telling us that the SHOUT is His Voice-- that His Voice is the Trump of God--the Voice of the Archangel?

1Thess 4:16-18 For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the Voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

PSALM 29
A Psalm of David.

Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His Name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
The Voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. The Voice of the LORD is powerful; the Voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The Voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. The Voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. The Voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. The Voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in His Temple doth every one speak of His glory. The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth KING for ever. The LORD will give strength unto His people; the LORD will bless His people with Peace.
