Evening devotional

Hear this evening's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

06.11 Evening:

Behold, I make all things new.

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.―If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.―Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump.―The new Man, which after God is created in Righteousness and True Holiness.

Thou shalt be called by a new Name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.

Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.―Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness?

06.11 Evening:

(Revelation 21:5)And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

(John 3:3)Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.--(II Corinthians 5:17)Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

(Ezekiel 36:26)A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.--(I Corinthians 5:7)Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:--(Ephesians 4:24)And that ye put on the new Man, which after God is created in Righteousness and True Holiness.

(Isaiah 62:2)And the Gentiles shall see thy Righteousness, and all kings thy Glory: and thou shalt be called by a new Name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.

(Isaiah 65:17)For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.--(II Peter 3:11)Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

God is Able

Matthew 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Luke 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Romans 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.

Romans 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own Master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for
God is able to make him stand.

II Corinthians 9:8-11 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work
: (as it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; He hath given to the poor: His Righteousness remaineth for ever. Now He that ministereth Seed to the sower both minister Bread for your food, and multiply your Seed sown, and increase the Fruits of your Righteousness;) being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

II Chronicles 25:9 And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The Lord is able to give thee much more than this.

Daniel 4:37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of Heaven, all Whose works are Truth, and His ways Judgment: and those that walk in pride He is able to abase.

Philippians 3:18-21 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) For our conversation is in Heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself.

II Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that Day.

Hebrews 2:18 For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succour them that are tempted.

Hebrews 7:23-25
And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: but this Man, because He continueth ever, hath an unchangeable Priesthood. Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.

The Lord is gracious

The Lord is gracious,

and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
(Psalm 145:8)

The Word for the YEAR--
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Word for the month--
Psalm 108:4 For Thy mercy is great above the heavens: and Thy Truth reacheth unto the clouds.

The Word for the day--
Psalm 57:5 Be Thou exalted, O God, above the Heavens; let Thy Glory be above all the earth.

06.11 Morning:

He arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep His anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the Heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him.

Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth Witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.―Ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.―Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.
