"I shall yet praise Him"

Psalm 42

To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the Living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

Yet
the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

-- Romans 16:27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.
I Peter 5:11 To Him
be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Evening devotional

12.06 Evening:

The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

In the way of Thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for Thee; the desire of our soul is to Thy Name, and to the remembrance of Thee. With my soul have I desired Thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek Thee early.

I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not... For I delight in the Law of God after the inward man: but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.―The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.―Our sufficiency is of God.―My grace is sufficient for thee.

Mt 26:41 Isa 26:8,9 Ro 7:18,22,23 Ga 5:17 Php 4:13 2Co 3:5 12:9

12.06 Evening:

(Matthew 26:41)Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

(Isaiah 26:8,9)Yea, in the way of Thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for Thee; the desire of our soul is to Thy Name, and to the remembrance of Thee. With my soul have I desired Thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek Thee early: for when Thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

(Romans 7:18)For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not...(Romans 7:22,23)For I delight in the Law of God after the inward man: but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.--(Galatians 5:17)For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

(Philippians 4:13)I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.--(II Corinthians 3:5)Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;--(II Corinthians 12:9)And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the Power of Christ may rest upon me.

Parables (6)

Hear this, all ye people;
give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
My mouth shall speak of Wisdom;
and the meditation of My heart shall be of Understanding.
I will incline Mine ear to a parable ["proverb"]:
I will open My dark saying upon the harp.
Psalm 49:1-4

All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables;
and without a parable spake He not unto them:
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
I will open My mouth in parables;
I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
Matthew 13:34,35

Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have Eternal Life:
and they are they which testify of Me.
John 5:39

Proverbs 6

My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of Life: to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent. Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; but if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house. But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

The LORD is gracious

For all flesh is as grass,
and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
but the Word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the Word which by the Gospel is preached unto you.
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes,
desire the sincere milk of the Word,
that ye may grow thereby:
if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
(I Peter 1:24-2:3)

The Word for the YEAR--
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Word for the month--
Psalm 29:11 The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with Peace.

The Word for the day--
Romans 5:1,2 Therefore being justified by Faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by Whom also we have access by Faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Compare Spiritual with Spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:12-14; John 5:39)--

"Therefore being justified by Faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by Whom also we have access by Faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."

"justified by faith"

Galatians 2:16,20 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the Faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the Faith of Christ, and not by the works of the Law: for by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified .... I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the Life which I now live in the flesh I live by the Faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

"peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"

Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in Heaven.

Ephesians 2:14,15 For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the Law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain One New Man, so making peace;

Luke 7:50 And He said to the woman, Thy Faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

"by Whom also we have access by Faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."

Ephesians 2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

II Corinthians 1:24 Not for that we have dominion over your Faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by Faith ye stand.

Ephesians 2:8,9 For by grace are ye saved through Faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

II Timothy 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

I Peter 5:10-12 But the God of all grace, Who hath called us unto His Eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed Hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

I Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Revelation 21:9-11 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a Great and High Mountain, and shewed me that Great City, the Holy Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from God, having the glory of God: and her Light was like unto a Stone most precious [cp. 1Pet 2:3,4], even like a jasper Stone [cp. Rev 4:1-3], clear as crystal;

Again, the Word for the day
--Romans 5:1,2 Therefore being justified by Faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by Whom also we have access by Faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

12.06 Morning:

It is God which worketh in you.

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.―A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from Heaven.―No man can come to M except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the Last Day.―And I will give them One Heart, and One Way, that they may fear Me for ever.

Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good Gift and every perfect Gift is from Above, and cometh down from the Father of Lights, with Whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of His Own will begat he us with the Word of Truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Lord, Thou wilt ordain Peace for us: for Thou also hast wrought all our works in us.
