The LORD is gracious

The LORD is gracious,
and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
(Psalm 145:8)

The Word for the YEAR--
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Word for the month--
Psalm 17:15 As for me, I will behold Thy Face in Righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness.

The Word for the day--
Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy Light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

Compare Spiritual with Spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:12-14; John 5:39)--

"Arise, shine; for thy Light is come"

Ephesians 5:14-16 Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee Light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

II Corinthians 4:6 For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ.

"the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee"

John 17:20-23 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their Word; that they all may be One; as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be One in Us: that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me. And the glory which Thou gavest Me I have given them; that they may be One, even as We are One: I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in One; and that the world may know that Thou hast sent Me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved Me.

II Thessalonians 2:13-14 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the Truth: whereunto He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:26-29 Even the Mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to His saints: to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this Mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all Wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: whereunto I also labour, striving according to His working, which worketh in me mightily.

Colossians 3:1-4 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are Above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things Above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your Life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, Who is our Life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.

Again, the Word for the day
--Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy Light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

Hear this morning's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

01.09 Morning:

Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth.

Jehovah–nissi: [that is, The Lord my banner.]―When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners.―The Lord hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the Lord our God.―We are more than conquerors through him that loved us.―Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.―The captain of their salvation.

My brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.―Valiant for the truth.―Fight the Lord's battles.―Be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work . . . fear ye not.―Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.―Yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
