Evening Devotional

Hear this evening's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

02.07 Evening:

Jesus . . . was moved with compassion toward them.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.--We have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.--Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the Way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.--He cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

Like as a father pitieth His children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him. For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.

Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give Thy Strength unto Thy servant, and save the son of Thine handmaid.

Mt 14:14 Heb 13:8 4:15 5:2 Mr 14:37,38 Ps 103:13,14 86:15,16
