Evening Devotional

Hear this evening's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

02.17 Evening:

God created man in His Own Image.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

God, Who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ . . . We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.--For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the Image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brethren.

We know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.--I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be His God, and he shall be My son.--If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.

Ezekiel 1:26-28

And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a Throne, as the appearance of a sapphire Stone: and upon the likeness of the Throne was the likeness as the appearance of a Man above upon it. And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of His loins even upward, and from the appearance of His loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a Voice of One that spake.
