The LORD is gracious

The Lord is gracious,
and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
(Psalm 145:8)

The Word for the YEAR--
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Word for the month--
Psalm 25:1,2 Unto Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in Thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

Psalm 25

The Word for the day--
Isaiah 26:3,4 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is Everlasting Strength:

Here is some immediate context--

Isaiah 26:1-5 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; we have a strong City; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the Truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is Everlasting Strength: for He bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, He layeth it low; He layeth it low, even to the ground; He bringeth it even to the dust.

Compare Spiritual with Spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:12-14; John 5:39)--

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is Everlasting Strength:"

Psalm 112:7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

Philippians 4:6,7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

"for in the Lord Jehovah is Everlasting Strength {H06697}"

צר צוּר

From 6696; properly a cliff (or sharp {rock} as compressed); generally a rock or boulder; figuratively a refuge; also an edge(as precipitous): - {edge} X (mighty) God ({one}) {rock} X {sharp} {stone} X {strength} X strong. See also 1049.

Exodus 33:21,22 And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock{H06697}: and it shall come to pass, while My glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock{H06697}, and will cover thee with My hand while I pass by:

Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock{H06697}, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.

I Samuel 2:2 There is none Holy as the Lord: for there is none beside Thee: neither is there any rock
{H06697} like our God.

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength {H06697}, in Whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalm 18:31 For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock{H06697} save our God?

Psalm 18:46 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock
{H06697}; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

Hear this morning's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

08.30 Morning:

The king held out . . . the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

It shall come to pass, when he crieth unto Me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

We have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love Him, because He first loved us.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of Faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure Water.―For through Him we ... have access by one Spirit unto the Father.―We have boldness and access with confidence by the Faith of Him.―Let us therefore come boldly unto the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
