Evening devotional

Hear this evening's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

11.28 Evening:

As the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that ... He might... deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?―Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.―For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

We know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, Eternal in the Heavens.―Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: ... we are ...willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's House are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Heb 2:14,15 1Co 15:55,57 2Co 4:16 5:1,6,8 Joh 14:1-3

11.28 Evening:

(Hebrews 2:14,15)Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

(I Corinthians 15:55)O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?...(I Corinthians 15:57)But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.--(II Corinthians 4:16)For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

(II Corinthians 5:1)For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, Eternal in the Heavens....(II Corinthians 5:6-8)Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (for we walk by faith, not by sight:) we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

(John 14:1,2)Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
