The LORD is gracious

The Lord is gracious,
and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
(Psalm 145:8)

The Word for the YEAR--
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Word for the month--
Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

The Word for the day--
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the Gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Compare Spiritual with Spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:12-14; John 5:39)--

"For the wages of sin is death;"

Genesis 2:15-17 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. . . .Genesis 3:6,7 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. . . .Genesis 3:23,24 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming Sword which turned every way, to keep the Way of the Tree of Life.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

I John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us.

Romans 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. . . Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

"but the Gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Ephesians 2:4-10 But God, Who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through Faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life.

Romans 5:19-21 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: that as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

I John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath Life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not Life. . . I John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the Name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have Eternal Life, and that ye may believe on the Name of the Son of God.

Revelation 22:1,2 And he shewed me a pure River of Water of Life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the Throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the Tree of Life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the Tree were for the healing of the nations.

II Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of Life which is in Christ Jesus,

Again, the Word for the day--Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the Gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hear this morning's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

07.26 Morning:

By Faith Abraham, . . . called to go out into a Place which he should after receive for an Inheritance, obeyed.

He shall choose our inheritance for us.―He led him about, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: so the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with Him.

I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the Way that thou shouldest go.―Who teacheth like Him?

We walk by Faith, not by sight.―Here have we no continuing city, but we seek One to come.―Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.―Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.
