The LORD is gracious

For all flesh is as grass,
and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
but the Word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the Word which by the Gospel is preached unto you.
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes,
desire the sincere milk of the Word,
that ye may grow thereby:
if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
(I Peter 1:24-2:3)

The Word for the YEAR--
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Word for the month--
Psalm 29:11 The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with Peace.

The Word for the day--
Colossians 1:19,20 For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell; and, having made Peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in Heaven.

Compare Spiritual with Spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:12-14; John 5:39)--

"For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell"

Matthew 12:18 Behold My Servant, Whom I have chosen; My Beloved, in Whom My Soul is well pleased: I will put My Spirit upon Him, and He shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. ...John 3:34 For He Whom God hath sent speaketh the Words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him.

Colossians 2:9 For in Him [the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. . . . John 1:16 And of His fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

"having made Peace through the blood of His cross"

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have Peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

"by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in Heaven."

II Corinthians 5:18-21 And all things are of God, Who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the Righteousness of God in Him.

Ephesians 1:7-10 In Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace; wherein He hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; having made known unto us the Mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself: that in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in Heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him:

Again, the Word for the day--Colossians 1:19,20 For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell; and, having made Peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in Heaven.

Hear this morning's devotional [Prepared by Jonathan Bagster (1813-1872)]

12.08 Morning:

By Love serve one another.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are Spiritual, restore such an one in the Spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the Law of Christ.

Brethren, if any of you do err from the Truth, and one convert him; let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.―Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the Truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned Love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently.―Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the Law.―Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.―Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

We . . . that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
